Ajax Contact Form – by Me

Recently as some people will know, I started learning php and recently I learnt some Javascript. So I decided to put my knowledge to work and make something useful……and here it is D

I made an ajax contact form after doing some reading, especially Rasmus’ 30 second AJAX Tutorial. Anyhow, it works pretty good I reckon, not as good as some other ones, but good enough for a learner I suppose. A “live” version can be found here. The full download is also available in my download area, a link is also below. I’m pretty pleased with the outcome, and hope people will like it D Unfortunately, its easy to break the form, but hopefully I’ll find a better way to get it working. D I’ve added comments to the code, so hopefully it will be easy to change.

Edit: File has been updated.

Got Hacked :(

But not this blog P

I asked a few people from Neowin IRC to have a look at my blog project for uni, and to see what holes they could come up with. Seems like I made some major mistakes in not properly checking the input of a post.
They managed to add some javascript to the page by posting, and borked the page, nothing serious, just a js redirect. I’m not sure if they could have done it without the demo account, so at the moment, I’ve decided to disabled it.

The good news is I fixed all the bugs (I hope) found by them, and so far so good. It was interesting to see what a silly mistake it was that I made, it could’ve been much more serious if it had been a malicious person. But, I did learn a few good things out of this, mainly ALWAY validate the input before doing anything else first. Thanks to Dev and Kudos for having a look, and telling me how to fix it. )

The posts they made are still there, so if you wanna have a look, head over here and see what the mistake was. Their posts will probably be deleted once I import the database next time, so if it ain’t there, then see a screenshot here.

Mr Linderman revealed!

Yep, 1st season of Heroes has ended, Heroes is on a break for now ( and they’ve finally shown who Mr Linderman is woot . Doesn’t exactly look like a criminal mastermind, more like an old grandad P Pics below and click for larger ones.

They ended the show with Sylar and Peter about to have a showdown, while Mohinder is stuck to the ceiling, thanks to Sylar P , Claire finding out Peter’s mother has been trying to protect her and has been working with the Haitian, Mr Bennet being caught by “The Company” for lying about Claire, Hiro and Ando in the future seeing the aftermath of the bomb, and Mr Linderman making Nathan an offer he can’t refuse .

A long wait until we find out whats gonna happen next. ( Damn, it was a good show woot

Promo for next season:

On a side note, my Gallery is up, although not exactly gallery like, just a list of files.

Gallery Removed

The gallery has become too slow, so I’m gonna use a simple php directory listing script instead sleeping Sometime next week, I’ll upload all the files again. The sidebar link leads to a 404 for now.

Edit: No more 404, but nothing is there atm.

Failed one, passed one

Failed one exam, and passed another. Not too bad me thinks |

My site in cockney and l33t

Check it out here (cockney) and here (l33t).

Be glad I don’t type in cockney and l33t and only talk in it P .

Updated Project Page

I’ve been working on this uni project a lot recently (more then I really should grin whistle ), and I’ve upload the latest, more usable, version to my site, you can find it here. The username and password is demo. At the moment, a few things are missing, mainly ability to delete posts and for new users to register, but editing posts with preview in now available, once logged in. The next few things that need to be added are:

  • Ability to delete posts
  • User registration
  • Better Admin Panel, right now there is no central area to manage the blog
  • Bug fixes and code tweaks
  • Improved security checks P
  • Clean up the html
  • Make it more cross platform/browser compatible, there are some problems with the forms on Linux and MacOS
  • Improve sidebar

Thats all for now, but check back for improved versions later on D . If you find a bug, let me know, and comments are welcome P

Registerfly Woes

I cant believe how crap the service provided by Registerfly is. angry It turns out eNom is canceling Registerfly’s reseller status on the 9th March for failing to stick to the rules. I have 5 domains with Registerfly and now I’m in the process of transferring them all to Namecheap. The problem is Registerfly has put a lock on this domain (yes this site domain) which means I can’t transfer it, even though the standard 60 day lock is over angry .
Apparently, I’m not the only one having this problem, over at Registerflies.com, other people have been complaining about it as well. Right now, there isn’t much i can do, only hope Registerfly responds to my support ticket.

I also got an email from Registerflies, apparently the old CEO of the company, Kevin Medina, has been fired and they are filing criminal charges against him w00t . Sometime before Christmas, he fired all employees and messed about with the passwords on the site, so no-one else could do anything.

Mr. Medina, as many do not know, wrote the entire Registerfly.com website and had full and total control of its data. After his termination, Mr. Medina deleted email accounts, access to support tools, and access for our risk/billing department to issue refunds.

The full email can be read here: http://www.zer0day.com/stuff/blogstuff/ceo.txt
The new CEO is promising to make things better, but I’ve lost all interest in being their customer. I just want my domains moved asap.

Uni Project

I have to design a blogging engine as part of my uni project razz I’ve decided to upload it to this site, along with any other projects I do. If you’re interested, it can be found here, although its feature less at the moment. The login details are demo/demo cool . I’ll upload the latest version when I get a chance, which is slightly more developed on the front-end, the back-end needs some serious work.

Also, I’ve uploaded an audio file (only one so far ) ) in my media gallery, it can be found here. It has a neat little music player, so you can listen to the file before downloading and I’ll be making the files available for download soon.

Site Changes

I’ve decided to add some audio files to my Gallery. The Video Gallery is gonna be renamed to Media Gallery, and will have a section dedicated to audio files I found/recorded in various places. You’ll be able to listen to the files before deciding to download anything, the download links will be available in the download section. I’ll add some stuff soon. I will also allow comments in the gallery, so you can leave your opinions. -) To protect myself from any legal problems -? , I have to post this as well:

IMPORTANT INFO:
The files I share will be done under the assumption that no copyright is held to them, or that the license they were released under allows the redistribution of these files.
